Part 8 · Engine #2 · 3D Timing
In 3D games, cartridges mostly change the mood.
Some games are defined by timing: how long to hold, when to release, how tight the fail window is. Separate “mood changes” from “control rules.”
Mood can change: sky, lighting, fog, colors, audio mood, character voice, world framing.
Rules should stay: jump timing, combo, fail checks, camera follow, input rhythm.
So a 3D timing cartridge is less about enemy tables and more about putting the same play feel into a different scene.
